Where Do The SeaPaint Colors Come From?

One of the most frequently asked questions I've received over the years id where do I get the inspiration for the shades that we've made over the years.

The answer is a simple one.

    I stole them.

Each shade is plucked directly from Mother Earth. Her colors at every turn inspire me.

The ocean, with her symphony of blues and greens, are music to my eyes.

A melody so invigoratingly peaceful that I want to drench my bones with it.

And when I wasn't robbing the ocean of her magnificent ombre, I was stealing colors from the ever changing sky.

Gradient hues, purple, pink, and orange. One by one, I'd take them as they formed.  And when it was neither sunrise or sunset, I'd pluck them, right from the sky.

From the navy horizon of the ocean to the whisky white of the clouds above, I stole them all. One by one, forever inspired by the nature around me.

And when I wasn't pilfering from the sky or the sea, I'd turn to the trees, stealing their mossy hues, bit by bit, branch by branch until.a rainbow of greens imprinted on my memory.

And when all of this was done and I needed something vivid to showcase the rainbow inside me, I turned to the flowers, mirroring their vivid petals in various forms of pigment.

So when people ask me, "Where does the inspiration for your colors come from?"... I guess the short answer is ... from the earth, the wind, and the twinkly stars in the sky to the depths of the sea and all the trees in between.

And once I spot a color that I just can't live without, I capture its essence, imprinting the exact shade in my mind. Then through pigments, I slowly bring the colors to life.

For me, SeaPaints has never just been about paint. It's about curating calm and joy through color, by mirroring the calming shades that we already drawn to in nature.
